    Dry Ingredients

    • 1 cup all-purpose flour Sifted
    • 1 cup granulated sugar Adjust to taste
    • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • ½ tsp baking soda
    • ½ tsp salt

    Wet Ingredients

    • ½ cup vegetable oil
    • 2 large eggs Room temperature
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 cup water Hot

    Instructions
     

    Preparation

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
    • In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients and mix well.
    • Add vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and hot water to the dry mixture.
    • Mix until well combined, but do not overmix the batter.

    Baking

    • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
    • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

    Notes

    This cake pairs wonderfully with chocolate frosting or whipped cream for added sweetness and flavor.
