Ingredients

  • 2 bagels sliced in half and toasted
  • 4 oz smoked salmon
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill chopped
  • 1 tbsp capers drained
  • 2 thin slices of red onion
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Toast the bagel halves until golden brown.
  • Spread cream cheese evenly over each bagel half.
  • In a small bowl, mash the avocado with lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Spread the avocado mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  • Layer smoked salmon slices on top of the avocado.
  • Sprinkle with chopped dill and capers.
  • Add thin slices of red onion on top.
  • Season with additional black pepper if desired.
  • Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

For a lighter version, use whole grain bagels or bagel thins. You can substitute Greek yogurt for cream cheese for a tangier, lower-fat option. Add a poached egg on top for a more substantial meal.
