  • Heatproof pitcher or large container
  • Kettle
  • Measuring spoons
  • Citrus juicer
  • Tall glasses

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon dried hibiscus flowers or 2 hibiscus tea bags
  • 1 teaspoon dried mint leaves or a handful of fresh mint
  • ½ teaspoon dried grapefruit peel optional
  • ¼ teaspoon dried rose hips optional
  • 32 ounces boiling water
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 1-2 teaspoons honey or agave, to taste
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Citrus slices and fresh mint for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Combine dried hibiscus, mint, grapefruit peel, and rose hips in a loose-leaf tea strainer or tea bag.
  • Place the strainer in a heatproof container or pitcher. Pour 32 ounces of boiling water over the tea blend.
  • Let steep for 5 minutes, then remove the tea strainer.
  • Stir in lemon juice and honey (or agave) to taste while the tea is still warm.
  • Allow the tea to cool at room temperature for 15 minutes, then refrigerate for 1-2 hours until chilled.
  • Serve over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with citrus slices and fresh mint.

Notes

For a sweeter tea, increase the honey or agave. Try adding berries or other fruits for a twist. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For a fun summer treat, freeze into ice pops or make iced tea cubes.
