Equipment

  • Coffee maker, espresso machine, or French press
  • Microwave-safe jar or small saucepan
  • Handheld frother, whisk, or jar with lid
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mugs or tall glasses

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups barista-style oat milk or other non-dairy milk
  • ¾ cup strong brewed coffee or 2 shots espresso hot or cold, as preferred
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup Grade A Dark Color Robust Taste recommended
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon plus more for garnish
  • Ice cubes for iced version

Instructions

  • Brew strong coffee or espresso using your preferred method.
  • In a microwave-safe jar or small saucepan, heat oat milk until steaming (about 1 minute in the microwave).
  • Froth the oat milk by shaking it in a jar with a tight lid, using a handheld frother, or whisking vigorously until foamy.
  • Add maple syrup and ground cinnamon to each mug. Pour in the hot coffee and stir well to combine.
  • Pour the frothed oat milk into the mugs, holding back the foam with a spoon, then spoon the foam on top.
  • Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a drizzle of maple syrup. Serve hot.
  • For an iced version, use chilled coffee, cold oat milk, and serve over ice.

Notes

For best froth, use barista-style oat milk. Adjust maple syrup and cinnamon to taste. Add a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla for extra flavor. For a seasonal twist, try pumpkin spice in the fall or peppermint extract in winter. Make a batch of cold brew for quick iced lattes.
