Ingredients
  

  • 6 chicken thighs bone-in or boneless, skin-on preferred
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp cornstarch optional, for thickening
  • optional sesame seeds for garnish
  • optional green onions sliced, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Pat chicken thighs dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken thighs, skin-side down, for 4–5 minutes until golden and crispy. Flip and sear the other side for 3–4 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.
  • Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and water. Bring to a simmer.
  • If a thicker sauce is desired, mix cornstarch with 1 tbsp water and stir into the sauce.
  • Return chicken thighs to the skillet, skin-side up. Spoon sauce over chicken. Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through (165°F/74°C).
  • Remove lid and let sauce reduce for 5 minutes, basting chicken occasionally.
  • Transfer chicken to a platter, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve warm.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or sriracha to the sauce. Use low-sodium soy sauce for a lighter option. This recipe can also be baked or grilled.
