  • 1 cup powdered sugar You can make your own by blending granulated sugar until fine.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Don’t overmix the dough after adding the flour.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract You can substitute with almond extract for a different flavor.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  • Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined.
  • Roll the dough into small balls and place them on an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool on wire racks before serving.

Notes

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze them for up to three months. Separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Try adding chocolate chips, nuts, or sprinkles for variations.
