Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional) Use according to preference.
  • Sprinkles or colored sugar for decoration (optional)

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).

Baking

  • Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Sprinkle with colored sugar if desired.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
  • Cool on wire racks.

Notes

To keep your Christmas Cookies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.
