  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Decorative sprinkles or icing (optional) Can be used for decoration.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and blend well.
  • Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • If desired, flatten slightly and add sprinkles or icing on top.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let cool before serving.

Notes

To keep your Christmas Cookies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. You can freeze them for up to three months. Separate layers with parchment paper when freezing. Don't overmix the dough to keep cookies soft. Experiment with decorations and flavors for variety.
