  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer
  • Tall glasses

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh blackberries plus more for garnish
  • ½ cup fresh basil leaves plus more for garnish
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • ½ cup honey, agave, or granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 6-8 cups cold water or sparkling water adjust for desired strength

Instructions

  • In a bowl, muddle blackberries and basil leaves with your sweetener of choice until the berries are broken down and the basil is fragrant.

  • Add freshly squeezed lemon juice and cold water (or sparkling water) to the pitcher. Stir well to combine.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity as needed by adding more sweetener or lemon juice.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  • Serve over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with extra blackberries, lemon slices, and basil leaves.

Notes

For a sparkling version, use seltzer or sparkling water. Add vodka or gin for an adult twist. Freeze into popsicles for a summer treat. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
