Bang Bang Potatoes: A Crispy, Creamy, and Flavorful Side Dish

Bang Bang Potatoes are crispy roasted baby potatoes tossed in a creamy, spicy, and slightly sweet Bang Bang sauce. This crowd-pleasing side or appetizer is inspired by the famous Bang Bang Shrimp and is perfect for parties, potlucks, or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 pounds baby potatoes halved or quartered
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp sriracha adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp honey optional, for extra sweetness
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • optional chopped green onions for garnish
  • optional sesame seeds for garnish
  • optional cilantro for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  • Wash and dry baby potatoes. Cut into halves or quarters as needed.
  • In a large bowl, toss potatoes with olive oil, cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  • Spread potatoes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  • While potatoes roast, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey (if using), and lime juice in a small bowl. Adjust sriracha to taste.
  • Transfer hot roasted potatoes to a large bowl. Pour Bang Bang sauce over and toss to coat evenly.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and cilantro if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

For extra crispiness, do not overcrowd the baking sheet. Adjust the spice level by varying the amount of sriracha. For a dairy-free version, use vegan mayonnaise. Try with sweet potatoes or in the air fryer for a twist.
